Why is it that after marriage the girl has to do so much more in the in-laws house?

If you look at it as a girls view we leave everything and come to the mans house. When we do come there the work that everyone would do, would all come on us (women). Why cant the family chores keep going even if the girl has just come in the house. I am not saying that i would just sit there and stare in the sky All im saying here is that everyone should do there own thing sure if the in-laws want something and cant get it no probs we could do it. Otherwise why is it that all the work the son, mom, dad would do would come to the girl why??

i don't know what's its like in india.but do extended family still exist nowadays i thot that wid education and working women... people attitude had changed ...this type of discrimination no longer exist.. .. that we have more n more nuclear families..

as far as i am concerned....i do not tolerate interferences from my in laws or my mum in my home... their opinions n views on certain matters r most welcome.... i think i made it clear since the beginning.... i respect n luv them ... but i think traditions n customs shuld be more flexible n shuld not be imposed on some1 nor shuld they be followed blindly....

it isnt such a thing .. its simple that when u get married .. u get bounded by several responsibilities .. and thus u have to work more .. basically the burden increases ..

and it has no such comparison with any other work ..
work is work ..
can be wat your doing porfessionally prior to marriage or even after marriage with your own personal responsibilities!

hey but sometimes its like one is so burdenless at parents home and why life goes topsy turvy at the other end . it shouldnt be a drastic change , though change is inevitable

who says your burdenless at your parents place ? .. dont u study .. dont u work at home a well as the office .. isnt that a burden ..
and the burden at the other end of life ..
is actually a part of the life process .. every1 has to face it .. today or tommorow .. so it shud already be accepted and kept in mind ..

i think people should learn to draw the line between blindly following traditions that are wrong, like in this case where the burden of house-hold chores is layed onto the new wife in the family. but values are still important. it's important as us to respect the new family we've entered into as they are now taking care of us. but i think using the saying that 'now you married into our family and we take care of you, then you should do all the work around the house'. i think the new wife should be treated as a family and not as a maid. it is okay and justified to assign some work for the girl but it is wrong to expect her to do everything. if you give everything to her and just sit around, and just order her around, then you're not treating her as a new family member but just a person you're 'paying' to clean your house and stuff.

fortunately for me, my bf's family is super nice to me and my bf treats me like a princess so i won't have to worry too much~

I agree with u after all its home. As every girl needs to adjust in where she is.
