Tips For Healthy Travelling ...

You never know how your body will respond while traveling or even when you reach your destination. You can get weather updates about your travel spot, but that's no guarantee that your health won't be altered by the change in climate.
While there are no promises when it comes to travel and your well-being, you can plan ahead for a safe and healthy journey. The Medical College of Wisconsin gives you the following tips on how to do this:
* PACK THE RIGHT CLOTHES
The daily temperature can vary tremendously within the United States. When it's warm in South Carolina, someone in Chicago is probably wearing a down coat. Before you fill that suitcase, make sure that you check the average daily temperature and typical rainfall where you're going. You should not only pack for style, but also comfort and health, experts suggest.
* BRING MEDICINE AND HEALTH PRODUCTS
Your rhythm may be off when you travel, but your daily schedule for taking medication should not be. Since your body is accustomed to certain medicine at certain times, stick with that routine and bring what's needed. Make sure you get enough medicine to last for the duration of the trip. Don't wait until you're almost in need of a new prescription.
* CHECK FOR SAFE FOOD AND WATER
If you're traveling internationally, you might encounter contaminated food and water. Traveler's diarrhea is not uncommon, as well as other illnesses. So, be sure to assess water and food so that you can bring along what you might need. This isn't much of a concern in the U.S. because most communities have safe food and water.
* MAKE SURE IMMUNIZATIONS ARE UP To DATE
Check your medical records and make certain you have all the recommended immunizations for the countries you are visiting. Get immunizations a month in advance so that vaccination side effects won't disturb your trip.
* ARM YOURSELF FOR THE SUNSHINE
Sunscreen protection with an appropriate sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15 is necessary if you plan to get a tan. Also, be sure to have sunglasses, hats and scarves for sightseeing
* EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED
Any known medical condition or information regarding your health should be made known to your travel companion. Make'sure your special-care needs have been identified, and have the name of your physician available should something happen.
