Some of the breathtaking destinations of Pakistan.

Very few places in the world compare with this small mountainous region, which was a semi-autonomous state until very recently but is now fully unified with Pakistan, the ruling dynasty of Hunza having lasted for over 600 years. The scenic beauty of this area, with its greenery and snow-capped mountains, makes it a true paradise. During the summer there is an abundance of apricots, peaches, pears and grapes. Hunza lies on the ancient trade route to Kashgar in the Chinese province of Sinkiang. Today the Karakoram Highway runs along this route with Karimabad being the main town of Hunza. Hunza is probably most famous for the longevity of its people, due to their simplicity and natural diet, along with the unpolluted mountain air. Tibetan traders referred to the beauty of this humble paradise as "Shangri-La".

The fort was a fortified residence for the Prince of Hunza. Hunza is situated at an altitude of 2500 m and has been one of numerous centres along the Silk Route.

Sadpara Lake

Sadpara Lake

Sadpara Lake is an important lake in Skardu Valley which supplies water for the town of Skardu. It is located at 2286 meters (7500 ft). It is one of the most beautiful and picturesque lakes in Pakistan.

Shangrila Lake

Kachura Lakes are two of the lakes in Skardu (nearly 2500 m or 8,200 feet); the Upper Kachura Lake and Lower Kachura Lake. This Picture is of Lower Kachura Lake also known as Shangrila Lake and is inside a tourist resort called Shangrila Resort. This is a Beautiful place and has a unique calmness. It is about 30 km from skardu.

Deosai - Land of Giants

Deosai means Land of Giants. It is among the highest plateaus in the world. The Deosai National Park is above the tree line and at an average height of 4000 metres above sea level covers a vast area of almost 3,000 square kilometers. It is wolrd highest pleatue after Tibet.

Between November and May - Deosai is snow-bound. In the summer months it is accessible from Skardu in the north and the Astore Valley in the west. Deosai Plains make up one of the last frontiers of natural habitat for the Himalayan brown bear that once roamed the mountains freely.

Deosai is a beautiful summer pasture with greenery and countless species of flora and fauna. Spring comes to Deosai late when millions of wild flowers begin to bloom all over and Deosai looks like a huge flower basket.

Deosai Plateau

In the words of Aleister Crowley, "In front of us lay the Deosai, an absolutely treeless wilderness of comparatively level country framed by minor peaks. It gives a unique impression of desolation. I have never seen its equal in this respect elsewhere. Yet the march was very pleasent with many flowers and streams".

The Deosai, is indeed a precious gift from mother nature.

This shot was taken on the Zarabad/Hussaini trail that follows the Hunza River, just south of Passu, Northern Pakistan...

The walk takes aproximately 6 hours and goes through some breathtaking mountain scenery, beautiful glaciers, small villages and a few scary suspension bridge (ie. like this one) crossings, it also passes a shine to Shah Talib, a 14th-century muslim missionary before looping back to Passu...

Bird Eye view of Karakoram

The bird eye view of the Karakoram Range in Pakistan.Mountaineers beleieve that it is one of the greatest mountain range on earth with almost 100 peaks above 7000 m in just a short distance span of just 500 km make it undoubtedly one of the greatest mountain range on earth.Here in the picture you can see strong winds blowing above Passu Sar(7478 m).
